Nostradamus 2012 thingy..dont be afraid?
Does everyone agree that if it weren’t for the internet then there would be less people who worried about that whole December 21, 2012 apocalypse prophecy..?
Oh ps. who else has days they remember when the world was supposedly going to end..

First, 2012 is not a Nostradamus thingy. Nostradamus never wrote anything about 2012. All the “Ancient prophesies” about 2012 were written after 2004.
The date in 2012 (Dec. 21) was chosen by José A. who wrote a book in the late 1980s, where he pretends to understand Meso-American calendars. The (false) idea that the Mayan calendar ends comes from that.
But the major marketing effort comes from charlatans who had a book for sale on how to survive the passage of Planet X… in 2003.
2003 came and went, but no Planet X. That’s OK, they revised the book, used José’s date, made a (fake) documentary for television and YouTube and invented the “Ancient prophesies”.
If these ancient prophesies had existed before 2003, they would have clashed with their original prediction.
So, I agree with you. Their 2003 hoax did not get much visibility because the internet was not used as much in those days. Their Big 2012 Hoax is getting a lot more visibility, thanks to the internet (and to the Hysteric Channel).
Mind you, now that someone has used the idea for a movie, and now that the movie is about to be released, we are going to get more and more hype about 2012. It will become difficult to make the difference between the hype generated by the charlatans (for their books and videos) and the hype generated by Sony Pictures.
